How to dress for Lapland (layering made easy)

Lapland warmth is all about layers. Use this simple rule:

Base layer (next to skin):
Merino wool or technical underwear. Avoid cotton.

Mid layer (insulation):
Fleece or wool sweater.

Outer layer (your LuxJa gear):
Down jacket and pants or coveralls.

Extras that make a big difference:

  • Warm socks (preferably wool)
  • Neck warmer / buff
  • Beanie + hood together on very cold days

If you’re cold: add a mid-layer first.

If you’re sweating: remove a mid-layer first. Staying dry = staying warm.

Caring for the gear

Do

  • Air-dry items after use (room temperature)
  • Brush off snow and let it melt/dry naturally
  • Keep boots away from direct heat (radiators, fireplaces)
  • Close zippers and velcro after wearing (prevents damage)

Don’t

  • Don’t wash or tumble dry (we handle professional cleaning)
  • Don’t use bleach or stain removers
  • Don’t dry on a radiator or heater (can damage materials)
  • Don’t use the gear for motor oil/repair work or activities that stain heavily

FAQ

Do I need extra layers under the rental set?

Yes. Base + mid layers are essential for comfort.

Can I wear jeans under the pants?

Not recommended. Jeans trap moisture and get cold fast.

Are the boots warm enough?

Yes, with warm socks. Avoid tight socks/boots—tightness reduces circulation and makes you colder.

Can I extend my rental?

Often yes, depending on availability. Message us early.

What if the weather changes a lot?

Layering is your best friend. Add/remove mid-layers.
